A Joke about Dogs & Democracy…

While attending rallies and protests in early 2025, I would bring my dog Nessie with me. People loved her! They thought it was great she was out there with us, ready to “bark for our rights!”

I quipped, “Well, she’s a democracy dog!” And that stuck. Every time I brought her with me, it was, “Here’s the Democracy Dog!” and they’d fawn over her.

Later when we launched our campaign for Congress in July 2025, our dogs Nessie, Kelpie and Daisy Mae became stars for our campaign. I would go for walks with them and meet people wanting to pet them, and then became supporters and volunteers. We began doing “Democracy Dog Walk” videos, talking about issues and meeting people in towns like New Hope, Doylestown and Yardley.

We realized we were on to something, so my wife suggested we develop a social media presence and I designed a graphic. We made Democracy Dogs! buttons and handed them out when canvassing. People loved them - especially dog owners. We started the podcast, initially to promote the campaign. When the campaign ended, we decided to continue podcasting.
